PUERTO MALDONADO AND SANDOVAL LAKE
3 Days / 2 Nights

DAY 01.- LIMA - PUERTO MALDONADO
Reception and departure from the airport where we will visit the city and walk to the Madre de Dios port. At the selected hour we board a canoe trip of approx. 45 minutes to arrive at the Cuzco Amazonic lodge in front of the Tortugas islands.
Reception, excursion guided after lunch and another walk of two hours in the jungle.
Typical dinner and overnight at the lodge.

DAY 02.- PUERTO MALDONADO (TREKKING BY THE JUNGLE) - SANDOVAL LAKE
Trip by the Madre de Dios river, to Sandoval lake. Return by foot to the river and back to the lodge to have lunch. In the afternoon we will visit a native farm.
Typical dinner and overnight at the lodge.

DAY 03.- PUERTO MALDONADO - LIMA
Breakfast and canoe trip by the river to the city. Arrival to the port and transfer to the airport.

Brief historical review

» They exist indications of presence of human beings before the conquest of the Incaico Empire. They have been petroglifos in the rivers Palotoa-Shinkebenia and Urubamba. In the Mountain range of Pantiacolla, in the heads of Mother of God, also are old petroglifos and rest.
The native population arose thousands ago from years with the arrival of the Arahuacos, from where they derived many ethnic groups, that soon Incas and Spaniards would be related to. Founded by the First Commissioner and Supreme Delegate of the Government Don Juan S. Villalta, the 10 of 1902 July. The name is in tribute to brave Faustino explorer Maldonado who crossed waters of the river Madre de God arriving to record its name in the trunk of an enormous tree in the confluence of the rivers Mother of God and Tambopata. Nevertheless, just in 1985 the date of foundation was made official
