Brief historical review
» It was founded on 1757 with the name of San Pablo of the Napeanos, being the first fluvial port on the Amazon river. Part of its territory is lived by diverse tribes and nomadic nomadic groups and semi with diverse languages and customs, that faced a same habitat, developed quite similar means of life fundamentally based on the hunting and the fishing.
The jesuitas missionaries penetrated the hidden places more of the forests and founded towns like Borja, Jeberos and Lagoons. Soon the commerce between Peru and Brazil began, but it was as of 1880 when the progress of Iquitos due to the operation of the rubber really began. Sample of the economic bonanza that this produced is the buildings that still can be seen in the city..
